"Our Healthbox is another tool in our harm reduction program that allows clients access not only to clean supplies and other life-saving items such as naloxone and HIV self-test kits, but also cultural supports such as smudge kits.”
Roxanne Sappier, Former Health Director
"Our Healthbox allows for access to compassionate care that is free from judgement and stigma, a service that is truly needed for our most vulnerable populations. Through offering this service we can make sure all our community has access to life saving services when they need them!“
Pasha Saulis, Manager
“The mission of the Neqotkuk Health Programs and Services is to provide quality care and raise awareness of health issues, while promoting holistic health and safety for the community of Neqotkuk. We feel that this Healthbox will help us to provide safe supplies as well as life-saving supplies to our community members during this toxic drug epidemic which continues to impact the lives of our families.”

Our Community, Our Healthbox

Our Community, Our Healthbox

Neqotkuk Mental Health and Addictions Outreach Program provides a holistic approach to health care that is rooted in culture, while providing a non-judgemental environment.

Neqotkuk has several families that have been impacted by Residential Schools, and every family in the community has been impacted by the on-reserve Indian Day School that was operated into the 1980s.

This has led to a loss of language and culture, as well as unresolved intergenerational trauma in the community.

This has been compounded by loss of lands surrounding our rural community, in which to practice our Rights.

As a result, there has been increased mental health challenges, drug and alcohol misuse and homelessness.
